SENIOR PASTOR: Rev. Michael Brundeen

 

 

Rev. Michael Brundeen has been pastor of St Mark since 2011. Michael came to us from Corpus Christi Texas where he was pastor of Jackson Woods Presbyterian Church. He is married to Amy and together they have two children. Michael is a frequent speaker at youth and adult conferences. Prior to pastoral ministry, Michael served as the youth director of First Presbyterian Church of Bryan, Texas. He holds a B.A. degree in History from Texas A&M University and a M.Div. from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary where he was awarded the Janie Maxwell Morris Fellowship. Michael is also a six year veteran of the United States Navy. He enjoys reading, hiking, golf and playing basketball. Michael and Amy met in High School in Sulphur Springs, Texas. Amy is also an Aggie with a B.A. degree in English Rhetoric and an M.S. in Elementary Education from Texas A&M Corpus Christi. Amy is a certified teacher (K-8) with special training with GT students. The Brundeens love good barbeque, Mexican food, hiking and camping. As a pastor, Michael is committed to excellence in preaching and a deep desire to see all Christians embrace their identity in Christ, develop their God- given gifts and grow in all areas of discipleship.  Michael recently shared, "When we moved here, everyone told us that we would love Boerne and we do.  It is an exceptional place and St Mark is a wonderful congregation. There is a rich history in this church of faith and practice. The people of St Mark are faithful in worship but also active in the Boerne community. It is a place where people can not only grow spiritually but also put their faith to work.”

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION DIRECTOR: Jennifer Agarwal

 

Jennifer Agarwal is a life-long Presbyterian. She practiced as a Registered Nurse for 10 years prior to becoming a full-time stay-at-home mom. After being a San Antonian for 20 years, Jennifer and her family moved to Boerne in 2004. Over the years she has served the Lord in various areas including Youth Ministry, Women’s Ministry, Children’s Sunday School, Music Ministry, Vacation Bible School and the Walk to Emmaus movement. She has also served as an Elder and a Deacon. Jennifer is currently serving as the Director of Christian Education at St. Mark where she and her family have attended for 5 years. Jennifer and her husband have been married nearly 14 years and have 3 elementary-aged children.

YOUTH DIRECTOR & FINANICIAL SECRETARY: Jessika Goad

 

Jessika Goad has been at St. Mark for 5 years now as our financial secretary and newly appointed youth director. She and her husband Trey have been married for 18 years and they have two children: Brandon, a 7th-grader active in our youth program, and Emily, entering 3rd grade. Jessika also brings to the table 10 years of experience as a volunteer youth leader, plus she is fluent in Spanish. Jessika currently volunteers (and works!) at St. Mark, with a local Girl Scout Troop, and in the Boerne community. “What a blessing it is to serve a variety of ministries here at St. Mark. Spending time with our youth is truly a privilege. I value the opportunity to nurture, support, pray and care for all our youth here at St. Mark.” Jessika loves to read, make cards, scrapbook, and “hang out” with our youth. EARLY LEARNING CENTER (ELC) DIRECTOR: Cheryl Hamner

 

Cheryl Hamner was selected as director of the Early Learning Center in May of 1996. From a very early age, Cheryl felt God leading her to work with children and families within the church. Cheryl graduated from Auburn University focusing on families and child development. She has been the founding director of two child development centers: The Christian Child Development Center of the First Presbyterian Church of Valparaiso, Florida and the ELC of St. Mark. Between these two terms, Cheryl lived in California with her family, worked with PTA and Head Start, served as a member of the school board, the regional-occupational-training board of directors and the city economic advisory committee. Cheryl has enjoyed being a Sunday school teacher/director, Women in the Church president and children’s advocate. TRADITIONAL WORSHIP LEADER: Phil Lambert

 

Phil Lambert has been involved in church music since age sixteen and has dedicated his life to serving churches in Florida, California, Oklahoma and South Carolina. He most recently served at Cason United Methodist Church in Delray Beach, Florida. Phil is an accomplished musician, director and composer who brings the highest degree of professionalism to every worship service. He is an ordained minister and those under his direction say they grow musically as well as spiritually. CONTEMPORARY WORSHIP LEADER: Derek Baker

 

Derek Baker serves as St. Mark's Contemporary Worship Team Leader. Derek came from St. Andrew Lutheran Church in San Antonio where he led Paradise Found Praise Team. Derek seeks to expand opportunities with a Christ-oriented church in growing a contemporary praise and worship service. As owner and general manager of Guitar School of San Antonio he gives private and class lessons in guitar, reading music and applied theory. Derek teaches guitar at St. John’s Lutheran here in Boerne and also offers consultation for their Praise Team. >> EMAIL DEREK<< 

 

 

 

 

SEXTON: Wendyl Leslie

 

Wendyl Leslie has been married over 45 years and is the proud grandfather of ten. When not maintaining the church facilities, Wendyl also serves as a team member of the St. Mark Stephen Ministries. Off campus, Wendyl is a writer for the GotQuestions.org ministry, the largest online ministry of its kind, assisting others in their understanding of God, Scripture, salvation, and other spiritual topics. At the time of this writing, Wendyl has answered over 500 questions and written nearly 200 articles that have been published on the GotQuestions.org website. Wendyl is also the author of “Serve to Lead: Mastering the Leadership Style of Jesus.” This work is the culmination of 30 years in the corporate arena, as well as his service an elder, deacon, educational director and teacher with the Church of Christ. A graduate of Southeastern State University with 12 hours towards his MBA, Wendyl is in the midst of writing two Christian historical novels. One is tentatively titled The Deluge, a story about Noah and the flood. The second is about Samson titled The Eyes of God.

ORGANIST: Janelle Lambert

 

Janelle has been both an accompanist and vocal and piano soloist since high school. She attended University of Iowa in Iowa City and (then) North Texas State University in Denton, TX, majoring in vocal performance. She's sung with the San Diego Master Chorale, an auditioned choir, and was a soloist with the San Diego Symphony. While in California, she was piano accompanist and music director for a local community theater. Janelle has served in music ministry in United Methodist, Baptist and Presbyterian churches -- designing and leading contemporary worship; singing (solos, ensembles and choirs); directing ensembles and choirs; as Church Pianist; as Organist Supply; and as Organist. During the week, Janelle currently serves as an assistant to the music minister at Trinity Baptist Church in San Antonio where she also produces the weekly bulletin, bimonthly newsletter and other publications. Janelle was called to St. Mark as Organist and accompanist for the choir in 2007. She's married to Phil, St. Mark's Traditional Service Music Director, and between them they have 3 children and 6 grandchildren.

 

 

OFFICE ADMINISTRATOR: Robyn Smith

 

Robyn Smith was born and raised in Texas and has made Boerne her home for the last 25 years. She attended Southwest Texas State University, majoring in Computer Information Systems. Robyn has extensive computer knowledge and a strong background in executive management skills. She also enjoys gardening an swimming. Robyn is married and their son attends Tarleton State University. He will graduate in the fall of 2011 with a degree in Geology. She and her family are active members and volunteers for the First Baptist Church in Boerne. Robyn delights in sharing God's love with others!
